ShopBuddy Product Feed:

Creating your ShopBuddy product feed is a very simple task to complete. There are currently 3 ways that this task can be accomplished depending on your current shopping cart setup.

SunShop Export:

If you are currently a use of SunShop, our turnkey shopping cart software, getting the correct feed is very simple. Once you have logged into the admin area, navigate to the "Settings" section. Once you are there, select "Manage Product Feeds" from the left hand menu in order to bring up a list of the product feeds available. If you do not see "ShopBuddy" listed on the "Installed Product Feeds" tab, you will need to click on the "Available Product Feeds" tab and install it by clicking the icon next to the module in the list. Once you have done this, you can now click back on the "Installed Product Feeds" tab and click on the down arrow icon to download your product feed to your local machine. You're done! Click on the "Import Data" tab on this page to now import that product feed you just downloaded.

Google Base Export:

If you are familiar with Google Base, or you currently have a shopping cart that supports Google Base exporting then importing your feed requires a few simple tweaks. Below are a few simple steps to follow in order to get your data feed imported.

1. Open Your Spreadsheet Editor

Your first task is to open the Google Base Feed using your favorite spreadsheet editor such as Microsoft Excel.

2. Delete Unnecessary Columns

Next, you will want to delete any necessary columns. When you are finished, there should only be 6 columns total remaining. The columns you need to keep are: title, description, price, link, image_link, condition

When you are completed, your spreadsheet should look like the following. If the column order is different, you do not need to worry. As long as the header column remains, ShopBuddy will know what column goes where.

3. Add New Columns & Rename

Next, you will need to add a new column called "category". You can add the column after or before any existing column you wish. In Excel, right click the column in which you wish to add the new column before and select the "Insert" command. Next, rename the image_link column to "imglink". Once completed, your spreadsheet should look like the following.

Lastly, you will need to add second new column called "pageid". It is recommended that you add this column to the very end. Simply click the header of the last empty column and add "pageid" to the header. You can choose to set the value for this on all of your products to 0 or blank, and the product will show on all of your facebook pages. You can also set it to the value of the specific facebook page id you would like this product to show on.

4. Save & Fill In Your Categories

Once you have done all of this, be sure to save your work at this point. When you save, select "Save As" and be sure to select the "Text (Tab delimited) (*.txt)" format. Once you have saved, you can begin typing in the correct categories you would like each of your products to be displayed under. This may be tedious work at first, but remember you really only need to do this once to establish your product feed. Be sure to save throughout your creation process.

Creating a New Feed:

The final way of creating a product feed is to create a feed from scratch using a spreadsheet editor such as Microsoft Excel. To make this method easier, we have created a template product feed for you to use as a starting point. You can download it from here: Sample Product Feed.

If you wish to create the entire file by hand, please make sure the following columns are added to your file.

Column Name: Description:
title The title of your product or service.
description The description of your product or service. Please do not use any HTML or line breaks. Limit is 500 characters.
category The category of your product or service.

Once you have created the file, be sure to save the file and your work. When you save, select "Save As" and be sure to select the "Text (Tab delimited) (*.txt)" format.
